HACCP - An Internationally Recognized Food Safety Certification

With the advent of travel and communication, the world has in many ways, become a smaller place. Transportation of countries' perishable and imperishable goods have not only become a reality, it has become commonplace. At the same time, many of the developing countries in the world have become more economically viable and the standard of living has improved for their citizens. In this situation, one of the first items that people want to spend their money on is safer, better quality food, with more variety.

As products from food producers move further, there is a greater need for an international standard to provide buyers with the comfort and assurance that their food products are safe for consumption and the quality is consistent.

For these reasons, HACCP has been introduced as an international standard for food production. HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point. Unlike the ISO 9000 standard of manufacturing which seeks to show that products are simply made in a consistent manner, HACCP seeks to ensure that food products are manufactured in a consistent manner with processes that safeguard against potential hazards including:

HACCP Procedures

GVF has embraced the philosophy of continuous improvement over the years and recognizes the importance of eliminating potential hazards in its manufacturing process. Due to this fact, the HACCP certification challenge was not in redesigning manufacturing processes, but rather bringing all these existing processes, quality control measures, policies and procedures together on paper, into one comprehensive document.
