Raising pigs that thrive, not just survive.

Effective early life diets are the foundation for successful lifetime performance.

Studies show that the number one predictor of lifetime performance is 20 days post wean ADG (Leeds University, Isley et al, 2001). In fact, one study reveals that pigs gaining 115 g/day or more in the first week post wean go to market 10 days earlier than pigs gaining less than 115 g/day (Pollman, 1993).

Recognizing that with today’s feed costs, lifetime performance improvements in ADG, FCR and days to market represent significant savings, producers need to ensure that post wean ADG is maximized in their operation.

Post wean ADG is impacted by many factors in the nursery including water quality and availability, lighting, feeder management, health, temperature, group size and density. Nursery diet nutrition, specifically complex, highly digestible early starter diets, play a key role in the first two weeks ADG. Improvements in this important metric will pay big dividends throughout the lifetime of the pig.
